For those who do not know what the Panda algorithm is from Google. It’s aim to go after content farms as it index’s the pages of each of the websites and identify the sites that are scraping or re-publishing content from other websites. Sites caught utilizing this method are hit with a penalty and their search rankings will overall be effected.
When the first release of Panda was launched in February 2011, it had an impact on 12% of search queries.
The Update to Panda
Google released an update last week for it’s Panda 2.2 update to their search algorithm. The new update plays a huge benefit to web masters and SEO professionals. With a big benefit to the original producers of content being outranked by sites that re-publish content. Matt Cutts from Google Said,
“A change has been approved that should help with that issue,”
With the growing importance and even investment of not only money but time into intricate content strategies for companies large and small websites should be recognized for their original content. Expect to see continuous updates to Panda and look at it as the fine tuning of how users search the web and arrive at content.
